silly boys!

The boys were being little hams for Grandma!

perfect zoo day!

We've had some strange weather in Colorado lately, but the Monday after Mother's Day was gorgeous, so we decided to head to the zoo! We got there right at 9 when it opened (and Rob thought it couldn't be done!), and it was perfect! It was so empty, it was like we were there by ourselves for a few hours!

Here's the little guy finishing up some apples before heading to the zoo. Caleb is about 20 months old. Noah wore those same shorts all of last summer, after his third birthday!

Here are the boys taking in the giraffes. I think these were Caleb's favorite!

Here is Noah checking out the polar bears!

Each time we go, the boys pick if they want to ride the train or the carousel. The carousel almost always wins!

We saw this sweet mama goose keeping her little fluffy goslings in line! Caleb loved these guys too!

Here's Noah, seeing how he measures up with another little monkey!

happy mother's day

Still updating from when Blogger deleted a few of my posts....

I had to work on Mother's Day, but luckily, not until the afternoon. My boys treated me to a yummy breakfast, and Noah loved telling me "Happy Mother's Day!". Once, he even started to whine about something, and Rob said, "Noah, no whining today, it's Mother's Day", and he stopped immediately. I wonder how many days we could use that? This is the best picture we could manage with my two wiggly worms!

Happy Mother's Day to all the amazing mom's I know, but mostly, to mine and Grandma Prucha! I'm the mom I am because of the love you gave me!

erinn's surprise 30th!!!

Erinn, my very best friend, turned 30, and we couldn't let that pass without a big celebration. A fiesta, to be exact! Back in November, I (along with Ian and Erinn's mom, Monica) started plotting this surprise. She's nosey, but I think we pulled it off!

The blue margaritas were a hit, sadly, with a bun in the oven, the birthday girl had to stick to the lemonade. We also had a taco bar and lots of Erinn's favorite treats!

Erinn and Ian's birthdays are only one day apart, so the actual party was on Ian's birthday. I made him a cake decorated in fondant tape measures, since he is so handy!

Here's the birthday girl, with little Ben! (In his pajamas, because she thought they were dropping the kids off for a date night.)

Here is Noah, helping to blow out the candles. I know, he doesn't have pants on (although that's not unusual, he is typically dressed when we have guests!). Apparently there was some sort of catastrophic Mexican soda spill, and he had to remove his pants.

Here is Caleb enjoying his cake!

Thanks so much to everyone who came to make the day special for Erinn, and to everyone who kept it such a great surprise!

dear blogger,

Just wondering what happened to my missing posts? You know, the one about Erinn's 30th birthday, Mother's Day, and our trip to the zoo? Just when I thought I was all caught up. Guess I'll be re-posting those, unless you could kindly return them to my blog.

Thanks,
Lauren

just because he's so darn cute...

Ok, last post, and then I'm officially caught up! Hooray!
Here is sweet Caleb making his "fish face". He loves to stick out his big juicy lips! What a cutie!

mother's day tea

All the moms were invited to Rainbow Tree Preschool on Thursday for the annual Mother's Day Tea. The kids sang us a song and took a lot of pride in "waiting on us" by bringing us a snack and juice. They also did a "Mother's Day Interview", answering questions about their mom's.
Here was Noah's:
Q: What does Mommy do while you are at school
A: Works out

Q: How old Mommy?
A: 10

Q: What is Mommy's favorite food?
A: Pickles, hot dogs and ice cream

Q: What is Mommy's favorite color?
A: Red

Q: What is your favorite thing to do with Mommy?
A: Play hide and seek

Q: Who is Mommy's best friend?
A: Me

stitch

Poor little Caleb lost his balance and fell off a chair, hitting his head on the next chair on the way down. He ended up with a pretty big gash on his head so we took him to Children's Hospital where we spent over three hours and ended up with Caleb getting 5 stitches. The stitches were taken out 7 days later, and his little forehead is healing nicely.

easter

We've been busy hosting a lot of parties lately, and our weekends have felt really busy, so it was really nice to be able to celebrate Easter just the four of us. After church, we dyed Easter eggs, hunted for Easter eggs, and had a huge dinner!

Noah had a lot of fun dunking the eggs in the dye.

Here's Caleb after the Easter egg hunt! He had a lot of fun chasing after his brother and trying to get to the eggs first.
Don't worry, everyone was fully clothed for the first half of the day!

Rob and Caleb are ready for some dinner!

build-a-bear nightmare

Noah really loves his stuffed animals! Most he's inherited from Rob or I or is borrowing from his brother, but he loves every one of them. He will be in bed with 25 animals and suddenly say, "Mom, where is Julien?" and just can't go to sleep until we have located the one missing animal. So, I thought for his 4th birthday, it would be really special to take him to Build-a-Bear so he could make his very own special buddy. He was excited, and picked out a puppy. Everything was going well until it was time to give the puppy to the lady to stuff it, sew it, etc.Apparently, Noah was envisioning taking home the skin of the dog, with no stuffing. As soon as the stuffing began, he threw a FIT. He sometime gets in "moods", but I have only witnessed this sort of fit once or twice before. Ever. He actually layed down on the floor, kicking, screaming, crying. I was mortified, and unable to talk any sense into him. Luckily, we were the only customers in the store. And they see this sort of thing all the time, right?

Don't be fooled by him looking happy, this is before "Fluppy" got stuffed.

Later that day he said, "Sorry Mom. I made a really big fit today". That's an understatement!
Luckily, Fluppy has fit right in, and is special to Noah.

mr. cheese

Lauren and Chris treated us to a fun afternoon at Chuck E. Cheese, complete with pizza, soda, tockens, tickets, and lots of games! Noah is still talking about it!

Here he is racing a horse!

Our sweet nephew, Steven, driving a train

cousins!

Caleb really enjoyed our first trip to Chuck E. Cheese too!

[ch]eeeeeeeeeeeese!!!

Caleb has learned to say "cheese" (he says it without the "ch" though), and really enjoys having his picture taken!Look at all those teeth! Our little guy is not cutting his eye teeth on the top and bottom (i.e.: he's been drooling, A LOT). He's not really bothered by it, so that's good! He is learning more and more words! Favorites include, "Noah" (that was really his first word after mama and dada), "Baby" (he calls anyone under the age of 15 a baby), "Thank You" ("eee oooh"), "ball", "puppy", and "cheers" (as he clanks his sippy cup, of course!).

happy birthday to you...

Happy Birthday dear Grandpa! Happy Birthday to you!
Noah helped make the cake and chose all the candles for Grandpa's birthday.

Here is Noah's portrait of the birthday boy!

rules...

Here is Noah "reading" us the rules at the trail-head. He got a big kick out of the little pictures. We got a big kick out of his interpretation of the rules!

mesa trail

We headed to Boulder on a beautiful, sunny, Spring morning. We decided to go to our favorite trail, and show the boys the spot where we got engaged. Noah loved our first hike of the season, and despite us asking, "Are you sure you want to keep going?" many times, he led the way one mile almost straight up and then one mile back down. He did great! Yes, our three-year-old walked all two miles without being carried once! Just another reminder of how big he's getting!
Caleb enjoyed the ride, and I enjoyed the workout of carrying an additional 27 pounds around!
This is the very spot where Rob asked me to be his wife. After we told Noah, he referred to it as the place we got married for the rest of the day.

My sweet boys and I

It was a BRIGHT, sunny day!

Noah is pointing at the moss and lichen on the rock.

Our good hikers!

Sometimes I pinch myself when I realize that this gorgeous place is practically right in my backyard!

When you gotta go, you gotta go!

little feet

Noah loves to sneak off with the camera to take photos of anything that strikes his fancy. Without fail, each time we retrieve the camera, we find lots of funny photos, and ALWAYS at least one photo just like this...
Noah always takes at least one photo of his cute little feet!

homemade pizza

Now that I've been working so much less, we're doing a lot more cooking, and the boys love to help! Noah took this picture of Caleb rolling out some homemade pizza dough.

park picnic

We bundled up the boys for a chilly March picnic at the Pirate Park.
