Tuesday: Day Trip to Estes Park

We decided to beat the heat and spend some time in Rocky Mt. National Park on Tuesday. We had another great day!
I had mud on my shoes that I was stomping off, so Noah followed suit and tried to stomp the mud off his shoes too!

We took the shuttle to Bear Lake, and got to see Grandpa. Noah didn't love the last 15 minutes of our drive, so he was a little out of sorts!

Bear Lake was the perfect "hike" for Noah!

Noah got around either a) on Daddy's shoulders, or b) running feverishly. I'd say it was about a 50/50 split!

Noah loved the scenery and the "critters" that we saw... mainly just a few fish, ground squirrels, bugs, dragon flies, etc.

Here's our young naturalist looking for trout!

Family photo! Noah also loved sitting on the log benches. I know, I look huge, but keep in mind we'll have a new baby in about 7 weeks!

Rob pointing out a fish to Noah.

Noah pointing out something to Daddy.

Out on a rock...

Found this t-shirt at a (tacky!!!!) shop in town, unfortunately they were sold out in Rob's size! (Seriously, who would buy/wear that?)

Noah had just about had it, and was almost falling asleep right on Rob's shoulders. Don't worry, I took my turn carrying him like that as well (evidence below).

This is what happens when a two-year-old eats salt-water taffy while riding on mom's shoulders. I wouldn't recommend it, it was quite the project to get it all out of my hair!

This is Noah saying "No, No Mommy!", no more photos! He was asleep about a minute later, as soon as we pulled out of the parking lot!

The thrill of the hunt!

To finish off day one of "Family Week"... Rob and I went on a date while my mom watched Noah. He napped most of the time, so we didn't miss much family time!
We went to see "The Proposal", but weren't really thinking that at 1:30 in the afternoon, you don't really need to get there 35 minutes before the movie starts. We killed some time playing arcade games. Rob loved the "Big Buck Hunter", although after seeing him "hunt", Uncle Ron may want to reconsider bringing him to hunt in Kansas this Spring!

Forget the swiffer, Noah and Rob decided to try this approach to cleaning the floor! Noah pretty much thought this was the funniest thing ever.

Family Week... starts with the zoo!

We wanted to take a little trip, just the three of us, before "new baby" arrives, so I took Rob's "five day" off too! Unfortunately, the "Police & Fire Games" put a damper on our travel plans, so we decided to lay low and hang out around town for "family week". We started Monday at the zoo!
Rob is generally unimpressed with the zoo... he thinks that for $24 these animals should really be "putting on a show", and in reality, most of the time they're sleeping. Luckily, the polar bears were great sports. This one posed on a rock, and two others were swimming laps and playing with a ball!

They had three baby giraffes, those were my favorites!

It was hot, so Noah and Rob too a rest. Noah opted for the curb over the bench!

Noah really wanted to ride the "choo choo", but it wasn't working. Instead, we decided to try the carousel. He was slightly terrified at first, and then Noah loved it! It was a miracle we found a long enough animal for both (well, ok, all three) of us! Please, disregard the horrible "Farmer Tan", I wore the tank top to try to even out, to no avail! Rob didn't let me snap any photos of him riding the super-masculine flying dolphin, but it was quite a sight!

By some miracle of God, some quick fixing and three more dollars allowed us a ride on the train after the carousel. Above is Noah anxiously waiting to see if the "test run" would pan out.

The train and the "eee eee's", or monkey's, were probably the highlight of his day! He also told everyone that he had seen cows at the zoo (there are no cows at the zoo), regardless, we had a great time!

"No Pee Pee's"

Like most toddlers, Noah LOVES to be naked! After bath time, we always let him run around in his birthday suite for a while! However, I've drilled it into his head that he can't make "pee pee's" or "poop's" when he doesn't have his diaper on. Lately, he likes to tell me, "Mama, No Pee Pee's", whenever his diaper's off!

Sunday Funday!

Just another day at the Davis House!
A little trouble waking up... he was not pleased to be having his picture taken!

Waiting for Daddy to get home from football, we decided to try a new recipe making yellow cupcakes and chocolate fudge frosting.

They look better than they tasted... Noah was the only one who liked the frosting (and he LOVED it!).

Ending the day with a little tidying up!

What, not everyone Swiffer's in the buff?

Police & Fire Games

Today Rob played football in the Colorado Police & Fire Games...
I didn't catch much (ok, any) of the action, but got a few cute pics of my boys!
We got lost, so Noah got a little nap during what turned into an hour-and-a-half drive!
Today we managed to leave the house with only blankie, monkey, and the Diego cup. Donkey, Bear, Duck, and the Pandis (aren't we original with their names?) had to stay home!

After their first two victories (we arrived only in time to see the last 12 minutes of game 2), they got a four hour break, so we went to lunch and explored the greater Englewood/Parker area. The games were right across from Dove Valley where the Broncos were practicing.

Noah looked so sweet resting his chin on Rob's head!

We decided not to stay around for game three (which they lost to the Westminster Fire Dept.), and Noah was absolutely devastated! He cried for about 20 miles, and then cried some more because he wanted his shoes back on (he took them off during the first fit). Finally (thankfully), he fell asleep, clutching his shoes! It was pretty cute. The afternoon hasn't been as cute... with a cumulative total of 35 minutes of napping, we're having a little bit of a rough day! Rob should be home any minute!!!

How our garden grows...

We're pretty proud of our yard this year... it's been a LOT of work. Noah and I are especially proud of our garden! Looks like we're going to be making lots of salsa, bruschetta, and anything else that contains tomatoes! We're about to have a bumper crop! I think that even Rob is eating his words (and soon tomatoes), he didn't think I'd have much of a green thumb, but I've only killed one plant all summer!

Our Budding Photographer!

Noah loves to pretend to take pictures with the camera, and he handles it very gently. Usually he takes pictures of his fingers, or the sky, or the floor, but I thought it was worth posting that he actually took a picture of Mommy, and was quite excited with himself!

Wow, he's never gotten a human in the frame before!

We'll give him the benefit of the doubt and guess that he was taking a picture of his brother??

Noah and Mommy in a self-photo!

32 weeks and counting...

I can't even explain how quickly it's gone this time around! Hard to believe that Noah's little brother is going to be here in less than 8 weeks! I know I don't frequently put up any "belly pics", or maybe never... but here's my big, pregnant belly! This little boy is so busy and gets lots of hiccups, usually right when I'm trying to fall asleep! We're really getting excited to meet him!

Monkey See, Monkey Do

My mom swears that Noah did a flip in the living room the other day. I can't imagine where he gets it from? Here is my soon to be 30-year-old husband doing a handstand in "Davis Crossfit", aka the huge gym he's made in our garage. This is what he kept busy with while we were splashing in the puddles!

Looks like someone needs to spend more time at the pool! Look at those white abs!

Singin' in the Rain...

I did my civic duty on Thursday, reporting to jury duty for the first time. Although I ultimately got dismissed from the case (a DUI case, the defendant was using "severe arthritis" as his defense... hmmmm), it was interesting. However, after being cooped up inside for 5 hours at the justice center, I was anxious to get Noah outside when we had a break in the rain. Things looked like they were going to stay clear for a while, until we go to the other side of the neighborhood, and it started pouring! Luckily it wasn't too cold out, so Noah and I just enjoyed playing in the rain!

This is the coolest truck... PoPo got it for Noah for Christmas, and it's made out of recycled wood and stuff, it is also powered by Noah pushing it, and lights up and makes noise with no batteries, very "green"!

Water pools right here in our alley. Noah loved the huge puddle it made!

Can you see how wet his legs are?

Splash!!

Enjoying the Summer Weather!

This summer continues to have the strangest weather that I've seen in my ten years in Colorado! This last week brought the lowest highs ever recorded during the month of July. On Thursday, it only got up to 64 degrees, so it's felt a lot more like fall. Wednesday night we spent some time out on the porch watching a storm roll in. Lately Noah has wanted to take his entire entourage of stuffed animals with him wherever he goes.

Thanks to Rob's dad (who we call PoPo), Noah now has two more new stuffed friends, the pandas, or "Pandis" as Noah calls them. PoPo has decided that a toy or two at a time, he's going to clear out his whole house. Watch the cute video below!
